Our Mission
In a world where dozens of wine critics each publish their own scores, choosing a great bottle can be overwhelming. 50 Best Wines exists to solve that problem. We aggregate scores from the world's most respected wine publications into a single, reliable ranking you can trust.
Our goal is simple: provide wine lovers, collectors, sommeliers, and curious drinkers with an independent, data-driven resource that reflects the global consensus on wine quality. No single critic can taste every wine, but by combining the expertise of many, we create a ranking that is more comprehensive and less biased than any individual source.

Our Methodology
Our rankings are built on community ratings drawn from platforms such as Vivino and X-Wines, aggregated using Bayesian averaging to produce reliable scores across 241,457+ wines. Our methodology is built on four key principles: comprehensiveness, normalization, weighting, and transparency.
Coming soon:Professional critic scores from Wine Spectator, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and Decanter are not currently included in our rankings. We are actively working to incorporate these sources in a future update.
Community Rating Collection
We gather community ratings from platforms like Vivino and X-Wines. Each platform contributes a different pool of wine enthusiasts, giving us broad global coverage.
Normalization
Different platforms use different scales. We normalize every rating to a standard 100-point scale, ensuring fair comparison across sources.
Bayesian Aggregation
We apply Bayesian averaging to combine ratings, giving more weight to wines with a higher volume of reviews while accounting for rating variance. Wines with only a handful of ratings are pulled toward the global mean until sufficient data exists.
Regular Updates
Rankings are refreshed regularly as new community ratings are collected, ensuring scores reflect the latest sentiment from wine enthusiasts worldwide.

Our rankings are algorithmically generated from community ratings. We do not accept payment for rankings or placement. No winery, distributor, or retailer can pay to influence their position in our rankings.
